Its just that you're seemingly mocking something that alot of people like and do take seriously, even if things like corpsepaint and gauntlets are involved. Not to mention, alot of people take themselves (and their outfits) way too seriously, so lets not start pointing fingers.

If I had a "Buy-one-get-one-free Flash Tattoo Party/Midlife Crisis Therapy Session" art show, alot of people would be pissed.

Not trying to be a bitch, but like I said you're on thin ice when you think you can get away with making fun of what other people really do enjoy. But I guess you are doing something write if people feel strongly enough to send you hate mail.

Bottom line, seriously, good for you for organizing something that YOU think would be cool, and for sticking with it. Fuck 'em!

i appreciate your comments and do see how some people might feel this way. i am not trying to say "black metal is stupid." i've read books about it and find it to be a very interesting musical genre. i realized early on that this might upset some people and that the concept for the show is pretty out there.

however, i wanted to see what artists would come up with for the concept. i come from a very conceptual background and find that some of the most interesting artwork is created when an artist is set up to create meaning from two seemingly opposite themes. and guess what? a lot of the work i've seen is provocative and interesting. overall the show is a criticism of conspicious consumerism that needles the fast food industry.

it is in no way my intention to say that black metal is foolish. thanks for the kudos for sticking to my guns on this one. this was not an easy decision to do a show like this and it is a gamble. i understand that this show isnt for everybody and i also understand why some people might be angry or apprehensive. i just want it to be known that the sentiment of the show is a good one and having a good time isnt going to hurt anybody. my apologies to anybody that is taking it the wrong way.

in the future we will be having shows that actually benefit the community directly. one show that i want to do is called SEED BOMB where we put together these balls of seeds whether they be flaura or food and put them in areas of the city that have been neglected and need beautification.

"b1g1fftp/mcts" is a thought. If only the concepts of "art" and "therapy" were naturally as opposed as, say, "black metal" and "fast food." but, alas, they tend more to congeal into one sad lump of masturbatory by-product wasting the space of legitimate work.

boo hoo. controversy is exciting. soul-searching in front of an audience... hmm.. less so.

deep-fried kudos to bmfff.
